This is the “textbook” for the MBSR classes at the UCSD Center for Mindfulness. However, it is intended to be a good overview of MBSR in general and provides guidance for those who prefer to explore the practice on their own, rather than in the class. It is widely available in most large bookstores, usually in the “Alternative Health” section, and is also easily obtained online at Amazon.com and other online booksellers. |Wherever You Go, There You Are
Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn

Kabat-Zinn describes meditation as what you might call a workout for your consciousness. This book makes learning meditation remarkably easy and provides guidance for different ways of approaching the practice of mindfulness. Also available in abridged audio tape version.
