A Life-Affirming Course in Conscious Living

Mindfulness develops the potential to experience each moment, no matter how difficult or intense, with serenity and clarity.  One can feel more alive and gain immediate access to powerful inner resources for healing.  Participants learn life-long tools to help maximize life, even in the midst of stress, pain and illness.

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program is an intensive eight week training to empower participants to take an active role in the management of their health and wellness.  The class meets weekly for 2.5 hours and there is an all-day session in the sixth week.  Participants are asked to practice mindfulness meditation and / or mindful movement for 30-45 minutes a day with instructional CD’s.

The MBSR program at Best Life Yet! Consulting is based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn and is similar to MBSR programs offered at such prestigious institutions as the University of Massachusetts, Harvard, Stanford and Duke University, the MARC Institute at UCLA, Scripps Medical Center and over 300 hospitals nationwide. Kabat-Zinn’s stress reduction program has been featured in the Bill Moyers’ PBS documentary and book Healing and the Mind, as well as on Oprah, NBC Dateline, ABC’s Chronicle, and in various national print media.  Best Life Yet! Consulting is the first to offer this program in the foothill community.

MBSR addresses the mind and spirit and has been shown by scientific research to greatly improve chronic physical conditions such as psoriasis, chronic pain syndromes and high blood pressure.  Mind/body therapies and integrative approaches are needed to address today‘s complex health issues.
